I often walk home on the beach in the evening, just after the sun has set - this time I was lucky enough to have my camera with me and to capture what the light is like at that time.
There's something otherworldly about it. There is little light left in the sky but the water has captured it and keeps it in its embrace, reluctant to release the last shards of the sun into the night.
The sky is already dark, has been dark for an hour, yet when you walk along the water, there is still light - warm, clear light - reflecting from the ocean, allowing the evening to go on longer than you believed it would. I think of these minutes as a gift from the goddesses - one of those serendipitous moments that make life so much more beautiful.
Each time I am lucky enough to be on the beach for these moments, I pause and take a deep breath and simply enjoy them, wallow in the beauty and remember just how lucky I am to see them.
What are those perfect moments for you?

Wow, Kate. The picture - and the words - are pure poetry. You should be a writer when you grow up. ;-)
Perfect moments: dawn breaking in my garden, sunsets on the beach, late afternoon light slanting through a forest canopy, warm hugs from a sleepy little boy, and the long awaited day when the peony bud finally opens in a velveteen scatter of sweetness.
Yum.

Oh Kate, that's beautiful- the picture and your words.
Perfect moments for me- My daughter curling up in my lap after a long stressful day and wrapping her arms around my neck and kissing my cheek repeatedly and telling me she loves me soo soo much- My flowers in bloom, my irises sprinkles with raindrops, sunrises and sunsets when they're filled with purples and pinks and golden oranges- Quiet afternoons spent in my swing in the yard listening to birds and watching the hummingbirds come to the feeders.
Lisa and Taryn Raye - both of you gave me shivers... thanks.

You captured the mood pefectly with your wonderful photo and beautiful words. Thanks.
Beautiful post! I feel like that is such a perfect place for me too.
I had a perfect moment yesterday (Mothers Day) with my 18 y.o. son. He instisted on taking me out to eat but developed a severe stomach ache so he wouldn't order anything. Later on that evening I was telling my mother that he took me out to eat but faked a stomach ache because he didn't have enough money to buy himself a meal. My son overheard me and was stunned I had him figured out. It's a perfect moment when you can still shock your almost grown children into realizing that Mom still knows everything. LOL It's also a perfect moment when your child demonstrates that you have raised a generous child.
When did you take that photo? Everything is now in bloom! Wasn't this past weekend glorious? (Victoria Day weekend) I broke out the shorts and watched my pasty legs get a reddish hue. The rain on Monday, late and Tuesday was a bummer, but this is Vancouver and we get what we get. Now is the time of the year to take the dog for a run on the dyke, plant the summer garden, wander down Fourth and people watch, and grab a seat on a patio somewhere sipping an iced something while you waste time enjoying the sun as it drifts in and out of fluffy clouds.
Enjoy your iced whatever. The rest of the week is supposed to rock.
