Adopt-A-Fox: Lisa's Turn

Move back, ladies, and get ready to dance. I'm turning the blog into a mosh pit this morning. Because, let's face it. There's nothing sexier than a man with a microphone. Or a guitar. Or a drum set. Besides, they're always there for you, even when you have PMS that would chase off Gandhi. Your music men can croon lovingly in your ears or growl, scream and roar right beside you.

I have scattered taste in music. I'm pretty much an omnivore, with the exception of Country, Hip-Hop and Rap. But when I'm blue or cranky, when I need an emotional or energetic jumpstart, these are my go-to guys.

Linkin Park

These guys are made of awesome. I love their softer side, but their cathartic raging works for me, too, especially on the aforementioned PMS days. Chester is flat out sexy, and he has incredible body art. He can take his voice from mournful velvet(like in "Shadow of the Day")to all-out gutteral howling (like in "One Step Closer"). Mike Shinoda takes rapping - which I normally despise - to a whole new place, and he is so easy on the eyes. They won Best Video of the Year from MTV this year for "What I've Done" and they deserved it. It's one of the most moving videos I've ever watched; it has a powerful message and is beautifully done. If you haven't seen it, check it out on their website. The video for "One Step Closer" is cool, too, and features a group of QiGong masters, and "Shadow of The Day" gives you a peek at Chester's tats.

Matchbox Twenty

How do I love thee, Rob Thomas and Co? In too many ways to count. Artful lyrics, soulful singing, incredible instrumentation. They're easier on sensitive ears than some of my other picks, and Mr. Thomas takes his solo work even farther down the romantic/emo slide. That's okay, though. He can cuddle me in song any day. He has the most amazing voice - as rich and smooth as Belgian chocolate - the most gorgeous eyes, and...well...RAWR. *grins*

Check him out in his "Ever the Same" video: http://www.vh1.com/video/play.jhtml?artist=1241405&vid=68635 for a the "wow, look at those eyes and mmm, what a voice" factor.

Or for yummy sexy omigoodness, check out "Lonely No More": http://www.vh1.com/video/play.jhtml?artist=1241405&vid=43179

Blue October
http://www.blueoctober.co.uk/

Blue October has one of the most interesting sounds around. They sing some of my absolute favorite tunes, like "Calling You", "The Sound of Pulling Heaven Down" and "Balance Beam". They aren't one of those bands whose music all blends together in a puddle of sameness. There's so much variety in style that I never get tired of listening to them. They have a new album coming out soon, YIPPEE!!

I dig the video for "Calling You" : http://music.aol.com/video/calling-you/blue-october/1342765

Last but never least...

Sum 41

My DH catches me listening to Sum 41 and says, "How old are you?" *laughs* It's true, this is young, hip, punky attitude stuff, the musical equivalent of the Energizer Bunny. I love it - it's my happy music. Their enthusiasm is infectious and they go at it with 100% gusto. It's great for driving and cleaning house or for kickstarting myself when caffeine doesn't do the trick. Or for bouncing to when I've had too much caffeine. You get the picture. They do have their sweet side - check out "Some Say", "Pieces", and "Best of Me". If you want to see them at their cheeky, goofy best, watch the video for "In Too Deep". There's some nice swimmer bods in the mix there, too. http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/--2154001

That's it for me. There are others, of course, but these are my current darlings. Tell us - who is your music man (or men)? We're dying to know.

LP's new video for "Leave Out All The Rest" is perfect for the RH books. *grins* In fact I already had them on the new playlist.

I'd never listened to Sum41 until you introduced me to them, but I love them now too.

I Love Rob Thomas. I also like John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Gavin DeGraw. There are others but my mind is drawing a giant blank right now.

Jack Johnson? Don't know him, must check out. Gavin, yes. I also love Gavin Rossdale. The video for "Love Remains the Same" is quite...tasty. =)

Jack Johnson is kinda Folksy. Did you see the Curious George movie? He did pretty much all of the music for it.

Oh, yeah! I liked that soundtrack. Cute movie, too.

Awesome hunks, Lisa. I have weird taste in music. I like new age. Enya, 2002, movie soundtracks (Practical Magic & Robin Hood are faves) but basically when my brain is working, music distracts me.

I used to get distracted, but now I put my Itunes playlists on very low and wear my Bose headphones. I don't even notice the music, and it blocks out the world.

I have but one to recommend for both artistry and looks. LOL.

Paolo Nutini.

Scottish, but of Italian descent. He has the dark good looks, but a Glaswegian accent.

Yummy!
